Anoma A1 Core Collection: Abyss and Stone, Now a Permanent Series
Anoma, a brand previously known for its limited production runs, has now unveiled its inaugural permanent collection, the A1 Core. This new range includes the A1 Abyss and A1 Stone models, signifying a strategic pivot from intermittent releases to a consistent presence in their product catalog. This move solidifies the brand's foundation while preserving its distinctive rounded triangular case design and aesthetic-driven philosophy. Established in 2024, the London-based microbrand manufactures its timepieces in Switzerland, offering them at an attractive price point of approximately GBP 2,000. This makes their unique, non-circular designs more attainable within a market often dominated by high-priced luxury watches from established manufacturers.
The watch case itself measures 39mm by 38mm, with a slender profile of 9.45mm. Anoma highlights that its ergonomic design makes the watch feel more like a 37mm piece when worn, a perception aided by its compact dimensions, the absence of traditional lugs, and a subtly inward-curving lower case. Constructed from 316L stainless steel, the case boasts a fully polished finish, with its curved surfaces artfully capturing and reflecting light from various angles. The integrated lugs and concealed crown contribute to the case's streamlined appearance. The A1 Core Collection watches are complemented by finely-grained Italian leather straps, available in an array of colors, and designed for easy interchangeability using standard 18mm spring bars.
The dials distinguish the two models. The A1 Abyss draws inspiration from the ocean's depths, featuring three layers of lacquer—one greenish-blue and two in a deeper midnight blue. It showcases a mirror-polished central area, a sunburst outer ring, and silver printed markers. In contrast, the A1 Stone evokes the natural texture of river rocks, characterized by a rough, blasted central section and a more defined sunburst outer ring, also with silver printed details, lending it a more understated aesthetic. Both timepieces maintain a minimalist display, devoid of any superfluous elements.
Both the Abyss and Stone models in the A1 Core Collection are powered by the Sellita SW100 automatic movement. This compact Swiss-made caliber is an ideal choice, aligning perfectly with the case dimensions and ensuring the watch's overall slimness. Functionally, it offers a straightforward time-only display, free from any additional complications. The movement boasts a 42-hour power reserve and operates at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour, ensuring reliable and precise timekeeping.
An initial production batch will consist of 300 watches, evenly split with 150 units of each model. These timepieces are anticipated to begin shipping in June 2026, with each unit priced at 2,200 GBP, excluding taxes. This launch represents a significant milestone for Anoma, providing collectors and enthusiasts with a more readily available option to experience the brand's distinctive approach to watchmaking.
