Baltic MR Moissanite Final Edition: A Dazzling Farewell to an Iconic Collection

Baltic, a brand renowned for its vintage-inspired timepieces, announces the grand finale of its celebrated MR collection with the exquisite MR Moissanite. Launched in 2017 by Étienne Malec via Kickstarter, Baltic quickly gained recognition for its captivating designs echoing the aesthetics of the mid-20th century, all while maintaining accessible pricing. The MR01, released during the pandemic, was a significant success, channeling the elegance of a Patek Philippe Calatrava dress watch with its slim profile and an affordable Chinese micro-rotor movement. Now, the MR Moissanite emerges as a refined tuxedo-style dress watch, characterized by a deep black dial and a radiant bezel embellished with laboratory-grown moissanite, offering a dazzling conclusion to this popular series.

Building on the success of its predecessors, the MR Moissanite collection maintains the compact and elegant proportions of the MR01, measuring 36mm in diameter and 9.9mm in height. Following the introduction of the MR Roulette in 2024, which featured a distinctive roulette-style dial, the new Moissanite edition offers both the original MR01 dial configuration and the roulette design, each enhanced by a polished black surface and a moissanite-set bezel. The watch's case, inspired by the classic Calatrava design, now boasts a bezel set with baguette-cut moissanite stones. These lab-grown gems, known for their exceptional hardness and brilliant light refraction, impart a lavish touch, creating a unique tension between traditional watchmaking and contemporary flair, as described by designer Jas Rewkiewicz.

Both the Moissanite Classic and Moissanite Roulette versions are powered by the Hangzhou calibre 5000, an ultra-thin automatic movement with a micro-rotor, delivering a 42-hour power reserve. This movement, measuring 30mm by 4mm, now features enhanced decoration with dark, grained bridges and perlage, complementing the watch's black dial. Each dial variant is limited to just 100 pieces, solidifying their status as a collector's item. The MR Moissanite represents not just a watch, but a testament to Baltic's innovative spirit, showcasing how classic inspirations can be reimagined with modern materials and a forward-thinking design philosophy. It embodies a celebration of craftsmanship and accessible luxury, leaving a lasting impression on the world of horology and setting an inspiring precedent for future watchmaking endeavors.
