Briston Introduces New Clubmaster Legend Compressor Watches in Steel and Acetate

Nov 06, 2026, 6:08 PM

Briston has unveiled its latest additions to the Clubmaster Legend series: the Compressor dive watches. These new models skillfully merge a retro design sensibility with modern elements, retaining the brand's commitment to affordability and distinctive style. Building on previous successful releases within the Clubmaster Legend family, which includes wave-textured dial divers and time-only models, these new compressor-style watches continue Briston's tradition of offering unique, everyday timepieces.

The collection showcases a blend of vintage-inspired characteristics with vibrant accents, notably through the use of cellulose acetate for some cases. This material, more commonly associated with eyewear, provides an unconventional and light wearing experience, setting Briston's dive watches apart from the more typical steel or titanium options. Available with black or navy blue dials, the new Clubmaster Legend Compressor offers choices between a polished steel case for a classic look and a tortoiseshell acetate case for a playful, individualistic appeal.

Design and Materials of the Clubmaster Legend Compressor

The Briston Clubmaster Legend Compressor watches distinguish themselves with a design deeply rooted in the aesthetic of classic super-compressor dive watches, evident from their dual-crown configuration. One crown, positioned at 2 o'clock, enables the manipulation of the internal bidirectional rotating bezel, a key feature that provides a nod to historical dive watch mechanisms while enhancing functionality. The other crown, located at 4 o'clock, serves the traditional purpose of adjusting time and date. This intelligent arrangement not only delivers a vintage charm reminiscent of the 1950s and 1960s but also ensures a clean, uncluttered exterior. The 42mm cushion-shaped case, with its domed profile and polished finish, exudes a refined yet robust character, measuring 14.65mm in thickness and offering a substantial 200 meters of water resistance, further secured by a screw-down caseback. A resilient 2.8mm domed K1 crystal protects the dial, designed for enhanced scratch resistance.

The choice between a polished steel case and the signature tortoiseshell cellulose acetate case allows for significant personalization, with the acetate option particularly embodying Briston's unique identity. The warm brown hues and subtle translucence of the acetate create a distinctive retro vibe, offering a visually engaging alternative to conventional materials. Beyond its aesthetic appeal, the acetate case contributes to a lighter feel on the wrist, enhancing comfort for daily wear. The dials, available in black or navy blue with a semi-gloss finish, feature a clear and highly legible layout. Applied steel indexes and Arabic numerals are equipped with green Super-LumiNova C3 for excellent visibility in low light conditions, complemented by a white railway-style minute track. The silver-white inner bezel incorporates a luminous triangle and dot, alongside a red inner minute track for dive time, adding a vibrant splash of color against the dark dials and reinforcing the watch's practical dive functionalities.

Movement and Practicality of the New Collection

Powering the Briston Clubmaster Legend Compressor is the reliable Japanese automatic Seiko NH35 movement, a choice that underscores the brand's commitment to accessibility and performance. This self-winding caliber operates at a frequency of 21,600 vibrations per hour (3Hz) and provides a practical 41-hour power reserve, ensuring consistent and accurate timekeeping for everyday use. Its functions include hours, minutes, a central seconds hand, and a date display conveniently located at the 3 o'clock position, along with the internal bezel's dive-time indication. The movement also features a quick date correction mechanism, enhancing user convenience. The focus on legibility is paramount in the dial design, with a baton-shaped hour hand and an arrow-tipped minute hand, both crafted from steel and filled with luminous inserts for optimal readability. The central seconds hand is similarly equipped with a rounded luminous tip, ensuring that all key time-telling elements are easily discernible in various lighting conditions, which is crucial for a dive-inspired timepiece.

Completing the utilitarian and stylish package are the matte FKM fluorocarbon vulcanized rubber straps, available in black or navy blue to perfectly match the respective dial colors. These straps are designed with a two-part construction and Briston's innovative presto quick-release system, allowing for effortless strap changes and customization. This feature adds to the watch's versatility, enabling owners to easily adapt their timepiece to different outfits or activities. The straps taper from a 20mm width at the lugs to 18mm at the buckle, ensuring a comfortable fit, and are secured by FKM rubber loops and a polished steel pin buckle engraved with the Briston logo. The steel case versions offer a more conventional appearance, appealing to those who prefer a traditional watch aesthetic, while the tortoiseshell acetate models present a distinctly playful and unique option. With prices starting at EUR 590 for the acetate versions and EUR 610 for the steel models, the Clubmaster Legend Compressor collection offers an attractive value proposition for a distinctive and robust automatic dive watch.
