Czapek, a renowned watchmaker, has recently unveiled two new timepieces that highlight the timeless allure of mother-of-pearl dials. Both models showcase the brand's dedication to employing specialized techniques and premium materials to elevate the art of watchmaking.

Czapek's New Releases: A Closer Look at the Antarctique S Ice Cloud and Promenade Midnight Pearl

In a recent development, Czapek has launched two remarkable watches that captivate with their unique mother-of-pearl dials, crafted in collaboration with Swiss specialist GT Cadrans. The Antarctique S Ice Cloud, a limited edition of just 10 pieces, features a 38.5mm stainless steel case with a 120m water resistance, powered by the in-house SXH5 automatic movement. Its dial, created using the nacre brouillé technique, displays delicate cloud formations in soft blues and purples, reminiscent of Antarctic skies. This effect is achieved by applying varnish to the underside of a polished white mother-of-pearl disc with a horsehair brush, resulting in random cloud patterns. The timepiece is adorned with faceted, luminescent indices and a distinctive central seconds hand with a red tip. Available for approximately CHF 24,000 / EUR 25,900, it also comes with an integrated steel bracelet and an additional rubber strap.

Complementing this release is the Promenade Midnight Pearl, a contemporary dress watch limited to 38 pieces, priced at around CHF 18,800 / EUR 20,300. This 38mm timepiece boasts a slim 10.8mm stainless steel case and features a patented sandwich construction dial. An ultra-thin 0.22mm Tahitian mother-of-pearl disc, known for its exotic violet and green iridescence, is overlaid with blue aventurine glass. This man-made material, with its sparkling metallic inclusions, conjures an image of a star-filled night sky. The intricate process of cutting and perforating the aventurine glass without harming the underlying nacre is a testament to the artisan's skill. The dial includes an off-centred small seconds counter at 4:30 and openworked hands and indices at 3, 6, 9, and 12 o'clock, ensuring a clear view of the shimmering display. The Promenade Midnight Pearl is paired with a dark blue Nubuck strap, with an option for a Milanese steel mesh bracelet. Both models house Czapek's in-house automatic movements, the SXH5 for the Antarctique and the SXH5.1 (with small seconds) for the Promenade, both featuring an off-centred platinum micro-rotor, a 4Hz frequency, and a 60-hour power reserve. The movements, visible through the caseback, are meticulously decorated with hand-bevelled edges and straight-grained flanks across their seven bridges.

These latest offerings from Czapek underscore the brand's dedication to artistic expression and mechanical excellence in high-end horology. The innovative use of mother-of-pearl, combined with intricate dial-making techniques, transforms these watches into miniature works of art. Collectors and enthusiasts will appreciate the blend of traditional craftsmanship with contemporary design, making these limited editions highly sought after for their unique aesthetic and technical prowess. Czapek continues to push boundaries, demonstrating that a watch can be both a precise instrument and a stunning piece of jewelry.
