Paranova Enhances Packaging Capabilities with St Neots Expansion

Paranova Print and Packaging has completed a substantial £5 million renovation of its manufacturing base in St Neots, Cambridgeshire, England. This strategic investment has led to a significant increase in the company's operational capacity, cementing its position as a leader in the sustainable food-to-go packaging sector. The newly expanded facility is now recognized as Europe's largest dedicated to fiber-based food packaging, showcasing a forward-thinking approach to production and environmental responsibility.
The comprehensive redevelopment of Paranova's St Neots site included adding 2,000 square meters of new manufacturing space, effectively tripling its previous production volume. This enhancement allows the company to significantly boost its output of recyclable food-to-go solutions. Annually, Paranova produces over 700 million recyclable food packaging units across its three board manufacturing facilities, demonstrating its considerable market presence and commitment to eco-friendly practices.
A key component of this expansion project was the installation of an advanced, custom-designed Bobst press. This cutting-edge equipment is specifically configured for lined board food-to-go products, enabling the production of a diverse range of items. These include sandwich skillets, various wrap boxes, trays, and cartons, all designed to meet the evolving demands of the food industry while maintaining high standards of sustainability.
Furthermore, Paranova is actively developing the next generation of its RecyclaLite product line. This initiative aims to assist clients in reducing their Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) obligations and transitioning towards fiber-based food-to-go packaging with a minimized environmental footprint. This ongoing innovation highlights Paranova's dedication to leading the industry in sustainable packaging solutions.
Jo Ormrod, CEO of Paranova Print and Packaging, emphasized the transformative nature of this investment. She stated that the expansion represents a pivotal moment for the company, underscoring its ambition to pioneer the future of sustainable food-to-go packaging. Ormrod elaborated that by establishing this premier food-to-go packaging hub in the UK, Paranova has created a manufacturing operation centered on innovation, superior quality, and environmental stewardship. This strategic development will enable the company to provide enhanced support to its customers, offering scalable fiber-based solutions that align with both consumer expectations and evolving regulatory standards.
The expansion of Paranova's St Neots facility marks a significant milestone in the company's journey towards sustainable and efficient packaging production. With increased capacity, advanced technology, and a strong focus on environmental responsibility, Paranova is well-positioned to continue its leadership in the European food-to-go packaging market, meeting the growing demand for eco-conscious solutions.
