Hermès Unveils New H08 Timepieces in Blanc Chantilly and Bleu de Malte

Luxury brand Hermès has expanded its H08 watch collection with two captivating new editions: the Blanc Chantilly and Bleu de Malte. These latest offerings showcase a novel aluminum-coated glass-fiber case, further cementing the H08's reputation as a distinct and sophisticated sports watch. Originally launched in 2021, the H08 has steadily garnered acclaim, proving that Hermès excels not only in its iconic leather goods but also in the realm of high-quality horology.

Since its debut, the H08 series has seen considerable diversification, moving beyond its initial time-and-date models to include intricate skeleton designs and elegant monopusher chronographs. Hermès has also embraced advanced materials, incorporating lightweight braided glass-fiber composites and exploring various titanium and ceramic configurations. The new Blanc Chantilly and Bleu de Malte models exemplify this ongoing innovation, introducing fresh aesthetics to the line.

Both new H08 timepieces feature a 39mm cushion-shaped case crafted from aluminum-coated braided glass fibers, offering exceptional lightness and a unique, fabric-like texture. This material choice reflects Hermès's heritage in textiles and leather, creating a watch that feels both modern and rooted in the brand's identity. Complementing the lightweight case is a ceramic bezel, available in either a luminous sunburst satin-brushed white or a rich Maltese blue. These bezels are finished with mirror-polished chamfers, adding a touch of refined brilliance.

A notable design element of the H08 is its bespoke font, meticulously created to harmonize with the watch's case geometry. The numeral loops on the dial are designed to perfectly echo the cushion shape of the case, enhancing the watch's cohesive aesthetic. The Blanc Chantilly model features a pristine monochrome white dial with contrasting ruthenium-treated Arabic numerals, generously filled with Super-LumiNova for superior readability. The Bleu de Malte variant presents a rhodium-plated, crystal-sandblasted dial with subtle blue accents, emphasizing the technical elegance of its composite construction. Both versions include Super-LumiNova filled hands for clear legibility in various lighting conditions. The date aperture, discreetly placed between 4 and 5 o'clock, is seamlessly integrated into the minute track, maintaining the dial's balanced appearance.

Turning the watch over reveals the automatic H1837 movement through a titanium and sapphire case back. This movement, a product of Hermès's significant stake in Vaucher, is far from a standard mechanism. Measuring a slender 3.7mm in thickness and beating at 28,800 vibrations per hour, it offers a reliable 50-hour power reserve. This means the H08 can be comfortably rotated with other timepieces in a collection without requiring frequent resetting. The watches come fitted with either a crisp white or deep Maltese blue rubber strap, designed to integrate fluidly with the cushion case. The straps themselves feature a textured pattern that mirrors the woven appearance of the glass fiber case, highlighting Hermès's attention to detail across all components. The price for these sophisticated models is €8,150 / US$8,600 / CHF 7,510.
