Hermès is reimagining its acclaimed Cape Cod timepiece for 2026, introducing a bold titanium automatic model that marks a significant evolution for the collection. Since its inception in 1991, the Cape Cod, designed by Henri d'Origny, has been celebrated for its distinctive "square within a rectangle" case, drawing inspiration from anchor chain links rather than equestrian themes. This new release veers towards a more athletic aesthetic, presenting a larger and decidedly more masculine presence, diverging from its typically unisex appeal.

The updated Cape Cod boasts a 41mm titanium case that moves away from the polished surfaces of its predecessors, embracing a modern, technical look with angular lines and a combination of satin-brushed and bead-blasted finishes. This design shift gives the watch a sleek, almost monochromatic appearance, positioning it as a contemporary sports watch while preserving its iconic silhouette. The use of titanium ensures a lightweight and comfortable wearing experience despite its increased dimensions, complemented by enhanced water resistance up to 100 meters, making it suitable for daily activities.

The dial features a dark grey (appearing black) finish with a textured center and a satin-brushed outer ring, providing visual depth without relying on vibrant colors. It maintains the characteristic Hermès Arabic numerals, rendered as Super-LumiNova-filled, rhodium-plated markers for excellent legibility, alongside luminous baton-shaped hands. A striking orange central seconds hand provides the sole color accent, infusing energy into the subdued design. A subtle date window at 6 o'clock is seamlessly integrated, preserving the dial's balanced composition. Powering this elegant timepiece is the Hermès H1912 automatic movement, developed in collaboration with Vaucher Manufacture Fleurier. Visible through a sapphire caseback adorned with Hermès' signature 'H' logos, the movement operates at 28,800 vibrations per hour and offers a 45-hour power reserve. Breaking from tradition, the watch comes with integrated rubber straps in black, Bleu Abysse, orange, or Jaune de Naples, equipped with a quick-change system for effortless personalization.
