Hublot Unveils Big Bang Sapphire Sky Blue Meca-10

Hublot, a brand renowned for its exceptional expertise in working with sapphire, consistently demonstrates its prowess. Since the debut of its sapphire Big Bang in 2016, the brand has introduced numerous vibrant iterations, including a striking orange version in 2021. Their transparent timepieces have evolved significantly, from the avant-garde MP-10 Tourbillon with its translucent rubber strap to the Big Bang MP-11 encased in a cool glacier-blue sapphire. The latest addition to this impressive lineage is the Hublot Big Bang Sapphire Sky Blue, a limited edition that brings a refreshing new color to the esteemed Big Bang Meca-10 series.

The Big Bang's layered construction naturally lends itself to sapphire, enhancing its visual appeal. This new Big Bang Sapphire Sky Blue model boasts a meticulously polished 44mm sapphire crystal case, offering water resistance up to 50 meters. Its bezel is adorned with Hublot's distinctive H-shaped titanium screws, complemented by a coordinating sky-blue rubber strap. The watch features a matte sky-blue skeleton dial and matching movement bridges, creating a striking contrast with the clear sapphire case. Functionality includes a running seconds indicator at 9 o'clock, a power-reserve display at 6 o'clock, and a red alert at 3 o'clock signaling the final two days of power.

Driving the Big Bang Sapphire Sky Blue is the calibre HUB1201, a manually wound movement first introduced in 2016 with the original 44mm Big Bang Meca-10. This movement showcases a fully skeletonized, Meccano-inspired design, allowing for a clear view of its intricate mechanics. Two parallel mainspring barrels provide an impressive 10-day power reserve. The innovative rack-and-pinion mechanism, with its two sliding racks moving along a 9 to 3 o'clock axis, creates the Meca-10's signature dual power-reserve display.
