OraOrea: A New Vision in Horology Unveiled

The Genesis of OraOrea and the Coriolis Pointer Date

Zach Starr Weiss, a prominent personality in the watch industry and co-founder of Worn & Wound and Windup Watch Fair, has officially launched his new brand, OraOrea. The debut model, the Coriolis Pointer Date, marks an exciting milestone, reflecting Weiss's extensive experience and refined taste in watchmaking. This launch is highly anticipated by those who have followed his significant contributions to the watch community over the past decade.

Intricate Dial Craftsmanship and Design Elements

The Coriolis Pointer Date is introduced in three distinct sunburst dial variations: Skyline Silver, Venetus Teal, and Rhodium Black. Each variant emphasizes a complex dial structure. A subtle central hand indicates the date, referencing an exclusive in-house numeral set. The main hour hand points to laser-cut, CNC-detailed, and hand-polished applied hour markers, featuring classic Roman numerals. A longer minute hand tracks its own Roman numeral ring, interspersed with small applied dot indices, creating a multi-layered and visually engaging display.

Robust Case Construction and Water Resistance

The watch features a meticulously crafted stainless steel case, primarily brushed with polished accents along its edges. Measuring 38.5mm in width and 45mm from lug-to-lug, the case is 9.3mm thick, excluding the domed sapphire crystal. This crystal includes double-sided anti-reflective and anti-fingerprint coatings, enhancing visibility and durability. A domed bezel further contributes to the watch's sophisticated case profile. Despite lacking a screw-down crown, the watch offers a commendable water resistance of 100 meters.

Advanced Movement and Exquisite Finishing

Powering the Coriolis Pointer Date is the Sellita SW386-1, an advanced iteration of the SW300 movement. This caliber, introduced in late 2025, boasts high-grade finishing and is regulated for exceptional accuracy and reliability. Sellita's D4 decoration, their highest standard, adorns the movement with perlage on the plates and bridges, blued screws, snailed edges, rhodium plating, and a custom rotor proudly displaying OraOrea's distinctive logo-glyph. This attention to detail underscores the watch's commitment to quality and craftsmanship.

Availability and Pricing of the Founder's Edition

Enthusiasts eager to acquire the OraOrea Coriolis Pointer Date can pre-order from the initial "OraOrea Founder's Edition," which is limited to 100 pieces per colorway. Each timepiece is priced at $3,950. The brand anticipates commencing shipments in the fourth quarter of 2026. This exclusive offering provides an early opportunity to own a piece from a brand poised to make a significant impact in the horological landscape.
