In Miami, a coordinated effort led to the apprehension of two individuals linked to a series of jewelry thefts. Steven Louis Romero, 39, and Jennifer Izquierdo, 43, were taken into custody following their alleged involvement in what authorities dubbed a "hold the door" scheme. The duo reportedly targeted Estrella De Oro and Cuban Dan Jewelry, making off with approximately $13,000 in gold from each establishment. Investigators utilized surveillance footage and vehicle registration data, connecting the pair to relatives, which ultimately led to their arrest and confessions. Hialeah Police Chief George Fuente emphasized the substantial losses, stating that each incident resulted in an average of $13,000 in stolen valuables, which the suspects later pawned.

Further west, Arizona witnessed a more forceful approach to theft at a Glendale pawn shop. On March 4, a man, captured on surveillance video, entered Super Pawn wielding a hammer. After briefly dropping and retrieving the tool, he proceeded to smash a display case, seizing over $10,000 worth of gold chains. As he made his escape, he reportedly brandished the hammer at a customer, though no physical contact occurred. A sales associate, Omar Lopez Badilla, expressed relief that the situation didn't escalate further, noting the resilience of the display glass despite the repeated blows. Employees suggested the perpetrator might have cased the store earlier, mentally preparing for the brazen act.

In California, a Kay Jewelers branch in Victorville fell victim to a swift "grab and run" incident. On March 5, a suspect, described as wearing a gray "Thrasher" sweatshirt and a black durag, requested to try on a gold chain. As an employee placed the item around his neck, the man bolted from the store, making off with the jewelry. The San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department has initiated a search for the individual involved in this daylight robbery, underscoring the quick decision-making often required from staff in such high-pressure situations.
