A. Lange & Söhne Unveils Limited Edition Lange 1 Daymatic in Honeygold

Dec 07, 2025, 2:35 PM

A. Lange & Söhne has unveiled a new limited-edition version of its self-winding Lange 1 Daymatic, showcasing the brand's exclusive Honeygold alloy. This timepiece, a less common sibling to the classic manual-wind Lange 1, distinguishes itself with a horizontally inverted dial orientation, placing the off-center hour and minute display on the right side. Limited to 250 numbered examples, this release highlights the unique aesthetic and prestige associated with Honeygold, a material the German manufacturer reserves for its most distinguished and rare creations.

First introduced in 2010, the Lange 1 Daymatic offers a self-winding mechanism, setting it apart from its celebrated hand-wound counterpart. Its dial configuration mirrors that of the Lange 1 Perpetual Calendar, offering a fresh perspective on the iconic design. The use of Honeygold, an 18k yellow gold alloy with exceptional hardness and a distinctive warm tone, elevates this model into an exclusive category. Given the swift sell-out history of previous Honeygold editions, such as the Datograph Perpetual Tourbillon Honeygold “Lumen,” this new Daymatic is expected to be highly coveted by collectors.

The watch boasts a case meticulously crafted from brushed and polished 18k Honeygold, measuring 39.5mm in diameter and 10.4mm in thickness. It features sapphire crystals on both the bezel and caseback, providing an unobstructed view of its intricate mechanics. Functionally, it includes a 3 o'clock crown for time setting, a button on the opposite side for date correction, and a recessed push-piece for adjusting the day display. Despite its luxurious nature, the watch offers a practical 30 meters of water resistance, complemented by a brown hand-stitched alligator leather strap with a matching Honeygold buckle.

The dial maintains the Daymatic’s signature layout, with the time display on the right and Lange's oversized date at the upper left. The dial's background, made from solid 925 sterling silver, is finished in a rich chocolate brown, perfectly matching the calendar discs. Unlike the power reserve indicator found on the manual-wind Lange 1, this Daymatic model incorporates a retrograde day display along the outer edge of the dial, harmonizing with the overall design language of the collection.

Powering this exquisite timepiece is A. Lange & Söhne’s Caliber L021.1 automatic movement, visible through the sapphire caseback. This movement operates at 21,600 vibrations per hour (3 Hz) and offers a 50-hour power reserve. The 426 components of the 67-jewel Caliber L021.1 are finished to Lange's stringent standards, with a hand-engraved balance cock. The rotor is a sophisticated assembly of a solid 950 platinum weight and a 22k gold structure, intricately engraved with the brand’s logo. Its unique design not only adds to the aesthetic appeal but also serves to mitigate strain on the movement during impacts.

The Lange 1 Daymatic Honeygold is a testament to A. Lange & Söhne’s unwavering commitment to horological excellence and aesthetic refinement. This highly limited production model, much like other exclusive Honeygold pieces, represents a significant acquisition for discerning collectors. While official pricing details are not disclosed, its exclusivity and the brand’s reputation suggest a value commensurate with a high-end luxury timepiece, positioning it as a prestigious addition to any collection.
