Longines has unveiled new interpretations of its acclaimed Spirit Pilot and Spirit Pilot Flyback watches. While these releases may appear to be a straightforward color alteration, they signify a notable design evolution, offering a more contemporary feel to these respected timepieces. This follows a highly successful year for Longines, marked by several significant introductions.

Exploring the New Blue Dial Design

The core of this update lies in the introduction of a sophisticated matte blue dial, complemented by a glossy blue ceramic bezel insert on the chronograph model. This shift from the previous gilt-style, golden accents transforms the watches' character, giving the latest generation of Spirit Pilot models a distinctly modern appeal. This new colorway expands the collection without replacing the vintage-inspired editions, providing consumers with a broader aesthetic choice within the same reliable framework.

Unchanged Technical Excellence: Precision and Power

Despite the visual refresh, the technical specifications of both models remain consistent with their predecessors. The time-only Spirit Pilot maintains its 39mm diameter and 11.5mm thickness, featuring a 47.2mm lug-to-lug measurement. Powering this model is the automatic L888.4 caliber, a COSC-certified movement boasting a 72-hour power reserve and a silicon balance spring. The Spirit Pilot Flyback chronograph, with dimensions of 39.5mm by 13.4mm and a 47.4mm lug-to-lug, houses the manual L792.4 column-wheel chronograph movement, also COSC-certified with a silicon balance spring and a 68-hour power reserve. Both movements are exclusively manufactured for Longines by ETA.

Availability and Investment

The new blue dial models are offered with either a blue rubber strap or a bracelet equipped with on-the-fly micro-adjustments in the clasp. The Longines Spirit Pilot is available for $2,700 on a strap and $3,100 on a bracelet. The Spirit Pilot Flyback chronograph is priced at $5,250 on a strap and $5,550 on a bracelet. These watches are currently available and are not part of a limited edition run.
