Longines has unveiled a modern reinterpretation of its iconic Legend Diver, the Legend Diver 59, reigniting the classic 42mm case size that originally defined the collection. This new iteration marries the beloved vintage design with contemporary engineering and an improved movement, catering to the desires of watch aficionados who favored the larger, date-free aesthetic.

In a significant announcement for watch enthusiasts, Longines has officially launched the Legend Diver 59, marking the triumphant return of the original 42mm case size, a format highly cherished since its 1959 debut. This revamped timepiece, designated L3.795.4.59.9, is now available for purchase, priced at CHF 3,400 or EUR 4,000, and is a permanent addition to the brand's collection. The Legend Diver 59 is distinguished by its 42mm diameter and 12.85mm thickness, featuring a stainless steel case with a blend of brushed and polished finishes. It retains the signature dual screw-down crowns, with one at 2 o’clock controlling the internal bidirectional rotating diving bezel and the other at 4 o’clock for winding and time adjustment. A domed, box-style sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating on both sides protects the dial, while the angled screw-down caseback is adorned with an embossed diver emblem, ensuring both robustness and ergonomic comfort. Certified to ISO 6425 standards, the watch boasts an impressive 300-meter water resistance. The dial, a highlight of this release, comes in a lightly grained black finish, enhancing legibility over previous glossy versions.
