Luminox is once again strengthening its bond with the Icelandic Search and Rescue (ICE-SAR) team, introducing a new collection of timepieces crafted for the most challenging environments. These watches, designed to assist those who face nature's fury, represent a continued dedication to resilience and functionality.

Unveiling the New 1080 Series: Precision in Peril

Illuminating the Darkest Hours: Luminox Light Technology

Iceland's long winter nights present a formidable challenge for rescue operations, making visibility paramount. Luminox addresses this with its signature Light Technology (LLT), which guarantees a consistent glow for up to two and a half decades without requiring a charge. The 1080 Series features fifteen LLT tubes strategically placed to ensure maximum clarity. Additionally, a Super-LumiNova SAR emblem at the twelve o'clock position serves as both a functional indicator and a symbolic tribute to the team, often referred to as the 'guardians of the land of ice and fire.'

A Redesigned Enclosure for Extreme Operations

The new ICE-SAR 1080 Series is encased in a 45mm CARBONOX™ shell. This advanced carbon-based composite is renowned for its superior strength-to-weight ratio, offering exceptional resistance to scratches and maintaining a stable thermal signature. Its lightweight yet substantial construction makes it ideal for demanding field use. The dial boasts a textured finish, providing tactile grip and aesthetic depth, while a sapphire crystal with anti-reflective treatment ensures optimal readability in varying light conditions, from dazzling snow to heavy rain. Powering this robust timepiece is the Swiss RONDA 515 quartz movement, selected for its unwavering reliability, low maintenance requirements, and remarkable resilience against impacts and sudden temperature fluctuations—conditions frequently encountered by rescue personnel tackling volcanic fissures or engaging in marine rescues.

Engineered for Aqueous Environments and Tactical Response

With a water resistance rating of 200 meters, the 1080 Series is equally adept at marine operations as it is at mountain deployments. A thoughtfully integrated pulsometer scale offers rescuers a rapid assessment tool for immediate medical triage in emergency situations. Turning the watch over reveals an engraved 316L stainless-steel caseback, detailing the four-step rescue protocol: Locate, Access, Stabilize, and Transport (LAST). This serves as both a practical guide and a testament to the watch's purpose.

A Special Edition: Bridging Heritage and Modern Endurance

A notable release within the collection is the Limited-Edition ICE-SAR 1080, restricted to 874 units. This specific number commemorates 874 AD, the year of Iceland's initial settlement. Luminox connects this historical milestone with contemporary fortitude through a distinctive fire-red textile strap and matching dial accents, which stand in stark contrast to the matte-black CARBONOX™ case and bezel. This variant represents the most striking design in the series, deeply intertwining with Iceland's foundational narrative.

A Commitment Forged in Real-World Scenarios

Pierrick Marcoux, Luminox Global Product Director, emphasizes that the ICE-SAR 1080 Series is a homage to bravery and perseverance. He states that every detail in the design underscores Luminox's dedication to crafting precise and reliable timepieces, while also honoring the courageous men and women of ICE-SAR who commit their lives to saving others. For Luminox, this collaboration extends beyond mere branding; the company remains a consistent provider of essential tools to the unit, leveraging its long-standing expertise in illumination technology, durable materials, and Swiss-made precision.
