LVMH Boosts Watchmaking with La Joux-Perret Investment
LVMH's Watches Division recently announced a strategic acquisition, securing a minority stake in La Joux-Perret, a renowned Swiss manufacturer specializing in high-precision watch movements. This move deepens the industrial collaboration between the luxury conglomerate and the movement specialist, aiming to bolster production capabilities and foster innovation across LVMH's prestigious watch brands, which include Hublot, TAG Heuer, and Zenith.
The partnership between LVMH and La Joux-Perret is a continuation of a successful existing collaboration. Notably, since 2022, TAG Heuer has worked closely with La Joux-Perret on the development of a solar-powered quartz movement, which has been successfully integrated into their Aquaracer and Formula 1 collections. This fruitful alliance has also extended to supplying movements for Tiffany & Co.'s Rope watch, with plans for further integration across other LVMH brands in the coming years. Both Jean-Christophe Babin, CEO of LVMH Watches Division, and Yoshitaka Oji, President & CEO of Citizen Watch Group, emphasized the value of this collaboration, highlighting La Joux-Perret's technical prowess and industrial excellence as key factors in advancing sustainable, high-precision watchmaking.
This strategic investment aligns with LVMH's broader objective to strengthen its relationships with leading industrial partners and expand its manufacturing footprint in Switzerland, where the group already operates 16 watchmaking facilities. La Joux-Perret will maintain its existing client base while continuing to play a pivotal role in LVMH's innovation agenda, particularly in the realm of sustainable and high-precision movements, ensuring its continued contribution to the Swiss watch industry.
The strategic alliance between LVMH and La Joux-Perret represents a significant step forward for the watchmaking industry, underscoring a shared commitment to innovation, precision, and sustainability. This collaboration is set to drive the creation of advanced timepieces, reflecting a forward-thinking approach that embraces both heritage and future-oriented technologies.
