Pandora Elevates 2026 Forecast Amidst U.S. Sales Resurgence
Pandora's Resurgence: A Story of Strategic Success and Market Rebound
Strong Third Quarter Fuels Optimism
In a recent announcement, Pandora revealed a significant 6% organic revenue increase during the third quarter, a performance largely attributable to revitalized sales in the United States and dynamic growth throughout the Asia-Pacific territory. This strong showing has led the esteemed jewelry firm to refine its annual financial projections, nudging the forecast towards the higher end of its initial estimates. On November 4th, the company confirmed a 7% surge in quarterly revenue, reaching 6.69 billion Danish kroner, equivalent to $1.04 billion, with comparable sales climbing by 4%.
United States Market Reclaims Growth Trajectory
The American market, which stands as Pandora's primary individual sales region, demonstrated a return to growth during this period. Comparable sales in North America registered a 3% increase in the third quarter, a notable improvement following a stagnant second quarter. Pandora attributes this progress to enhanced in-store operational efficiency, robust online engagement, the introduction of novel products, and precisely targeted marketing efforts. This rebound occurred despite a persistent downturn in consumer confidence, particularly affecting middle and lower-income demographics, as noted by CEO Berta de Pablos-Barbier in a discussion with Bloomberg. She emphasized that the sales improvement underscores the successful resonance of Pandora's strategic initiatives with American consumers, irrespective of the broader economic sentiment.
Diverse Jewelry Collections Drive Global Performance
Globally, Pandora's more recent jewelry lines continue to outshine its established charm collections. The 'Fuel with More' category, encompassing the Timeless, Signature, and Essence collections, alongside Pandora's lab-grown diamonds, achieved a 9% rise in comparable sales, indicating a strong positive reception for these innovations.
Asia-Pacific Leads Regional Expansion
The Asia-Pacific region emerged as Pandora's most rapidly expanding market, recording a 20% increase in comparable sales. This impressive growth was primarily propelled by triple-digit expansion in Japan, which alone accounted for nearly half of the company's total worldwide comparable sales growth. Other regions also contributed positively, with Europe, the Middle East, and Africa experiencing a 1% increase, and Latin America seeing a 6% rise in sales.
Operational Margins and Strategic Material Transitions
Pandora's reported operating margin improved to 15.9% from 14% year-over-year. However, this enhancement was significantly boosted by a one-off refund of U.S. tariffs, which contributed 3.7 percentage points. Excluding this and other external factors like commodity price fluctuations and foreign exchange rates, the underlying margin remained largely stable. Concurrently, Pandora is advancing with its plan to transition some silver jewelry items to platinum-plated alternatives. This strategy aims to mitigate exposure to the volatile prices of silver. Initial pilot programs in the Netherlands yielded encouraging results, leading to an expansion of these trials to key markets including the United States, United Kingdom, and Australia. Despite a recent decline in silver prices, CEO de Pablos-Barbier remains committed to this transition, citing the long-term risk associated with heavy reliance on commodity-priced silver. The company intends to begin converting a portion of its relevant silver inventory in 2027, with approximately a quarter of the applicable assortment expected to be platinum-plated that year, while continuing to offer silver and gold-plated options.
Revised Full-Year Outlook and October Performance
For the entire fiscal year, Pandora has adjusted its organic revenue growth projection to a tighter range of 2%–3%, narrowing it from the previous 0–3% forecast. The company also elevated the lower boundary of its operating-margin guidance to 22.5%–23% from 22%–23%. Looking ahead, October's comparable sales saw a 1% increase. Although reduced promotional activities tempered the reported figure, the underlying growth for the month was estimated to be around 3%.
