Panerai Unveils Submersible Navy SEALs PAM01738: A Robust Dive Watch for Elite Operations

Jun 22, 2026, 8:35 AM

Embodying its heritage of creating resilient underwater instruments for Italian commando frogmen since the 1930s, Panerai's latest collaboration with the U.S. Navy SEALs is a natural progression. The new PAM01738, a tactical dive watch, is meticulously crafted to meet the stringent demands of elite combat diver and demolition units. This timepiece sets a new standard with its enhanced specifications, honoring the specialized force it represents.

As a core model within Panerai’s military-inspired Navy SEALs collection, the PAM01738 inherits the ruggedness of its predecessors, designed to thrive in the harshest environments. While sharing a similar robust build and size with other Submersible Marina Militare models, the PAM01738 distinguishes itself with an impressive 500-meter water resistance, surpassing its counterparts.

The watch features a matte brushed 44mm stainless steel case, complemented by Panerai's iconic crown-protecting lever and a black rubber-clad crown. Its unidirectional rotating dive bezel, essential for timing underwater missions, is fitted with a scratch-resistant matte black ceramic insert and a luminous blue dot at the 12 o'clock position. The solid screw-down caseback is adorned with an engraving of the American flag and the Navy SEALs emblem.

Luminescence, a defining characteristic of Panerai watches since the introduction of the Radiomir compound in 1916, is a crucial element of the PAM01738. The watch’s large indices and hands, 20% wider than standard, are coated with Super-LumiNova X2. To facilitate critical immersion time readings, the minute hand and the bezel's 12 o'clock dot emit a blue glow, while other markers and hands radiate green. The dial presents a grey gradient with a textured surface, and the recessed date window at 3 o’clock displays silver numerals against a black background. A distinctive bull's eye small seconds indicator features luminous plots and a hand.

Engineered to align with the Navy SEALs’ philosophy of embracing discomfort, this timepiece has endured rigorous testing, including 5,000g shock impacts, 19,000 bezel rotations, exposure to extreme thermal fluctuations, and 10,000 activations of its crown-protecting lever. Its water resistance was validated at 25% beyond the stated 500-meter specification, ensuring unparalleled reliability.

The PAM01738 is powered by the Panerai P.980 caliber, an automatic movement developed by ValFleurier, Richemont Group’s shared movement manufacturing facility. This movement, equipped with a stop-seconds function, allows for precise synchronization, a vital capability for critical missions. With a 3-day power reserve and operating at 4Hz, the movement ensures stability through a transversal balance bridge and an Incabloc anti-shock system. The watch comes with a convenient tool-free quick-release system for swapping between the black rubber strap and an additional grey canvas strap. Scheduled for release in July 2026, the Submersible Navy SEALs PAM01738 will be available globally at Panerai boutiques for EUR 12,100.

This remarkable timepiece is more than just a watch; it is a testament to precision engineering, enduring legacy, and the spirit of elite performance. By combining historical dedication to underwater exploration with cutting-edge technology and robust design, Panerai provides a tool that transcends mere timekeeping, inspiring confidence and capability in challenging environments. It serves as a reminder that true excellence is forged through rigorous testing and an unwavering commitment to quality and purpose.
