This initiative sheds light on a lesser-known aspect of the iconic artist's life: his profound enthusiasm for collecting fine watches and jewelry, particularly those from Piaget. This release not only pays homage to Warhol's artistic vision but also celebrates his personal connection to the luxury brand, bringing a piece of his eclectic taste to modern collectors.

Andy Warhol, a towering figure in the pop art movement, was renowned for his vibrant and often provocative works. However, his private life held a secret passion for collecting, which included an extensive array of luxury watches. Upon his passing in 1987, those closest to him were astonished to discover a hidden trove of treasures, among them dozens of high-end timepieces meticulously stored in concealed locations throughout his New York City residence. This revelation underscored a dimension of Warhol's persona that remained largely private, even from his inner circle. His affinity for Piaget watches was particularly strong, with reports indicating he owned at least eight different models from the brand.

Among his cherished collection, the Piaget 1502 model, distinguished by its elegant cushion-shaped case, held a special place. Acquired in 1973, this watch quickly gained an unofficial moniker, the 'Black Tie watch,' as Warhol was frequently seen sporting it at various high-profile social gatherings and galas. The watch boasts a striking green leather strap, powered by Piaget's 501P1 self-winding mechanical calibre, offering a 40-hour power reserve within its sleek design.

The watch dial itself is a miniature work of art, featuring an inlaid marquetry motif that incorporates paper-thin slices of yellow Namibian serpentine, pink opal, and green chrysoprase. These vibrant elements are meticulously arranged on a black onyx base, mirroring the color scheme of the original 1973 'Black Tie watch.'
