A notable collaboration has been established between the Qatar Diamond Exchange (QDE) and Italy’s Borsa Diamanti d’Italia. This strategic alliance was formalized through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed at the CIBJO Centenary Congress in Vicenza, Italy, from September 4 to 7, 2026. Ghanim Nasser Al-Saadi, Director of the Qatar Diamond Exchange, and Luigi Cosma, President of Borsa Diamanti d’Italia and Vice President of the World Federation of Diamond Bourses (WFDB), officiated the signing.

The agreement was made during the World Jewellery Confederation’s 100th-anniversary celebration, a milestone also shared by Borsa Diamanti d’Italia, founded in Milan in December 1926 as Italy’s oldest and central institution for diamond trade. The MoU creates a framework for fostering connections between members of both exchanges, encouraging commercial exchanges, mutual introductions, and broader cooperation. Both organizations will also facilitate participation in industry events, tenders, auctions, and viewings through a program of reciprocal visits. Additionally, both parties are committed to boosting consumer confidence in natural diamonds and precious stones, promoting international and local industry initiatives, and upholding recognized industry standards, including those set by the World Diamond Council’s System of Warranties and the Responsible Jewellery Council.

This partnership signifies a major step for QDE in expanding its international presence and deepening its engagement with established diamond markets, building on previous MoUs with the Diamond Exchange of Singapore, the Shanghai Diamond Exchange, and the Tokyo Diamond Exchange, thereby extending its network from Asia into Europe. Leaders from both exchanges expressed enthusiasm for the new opportunities this collaboration will bring, highlighting Italy's respected standing in the global jewelry industry and Qatar's commitment to regulated market standards.

This initiative not only strengthens economic ties but also champions the integrity and growth of the global diamond industry. By promoting shared values and high standards, these collaborations ensure a sustainable and trustworthy market for consumers and businesses alike, fostering innovation and mutual prosperity across borders.
