The Qatar Diamond Exchange (QDE) has achieved a significant milestone by becoming a full member of the World Federation of Diamond Bourses (WFDB), an elite organization that sets global standards for diamond trading. This strategic integration reinforces Qatar's growing influence in the international diamond market and promises new avenues for trade and collaboration.

Elevating Qatar's Presence in the Global Diamond Arena

A New Era for Qatar's Diamond Industry

During the 41st World Diamond Congress, held from July 12 to 15, 2026, in Singapore, the Qatar Diamond Exchange (QDE) was formally accepted into the World Federation of Diamond Bourses (WFDB). This exclusive body oversees 27 diamond bourses across five continents, ensuring common trading practices and a unified code of conduct. This admission marks a pivotal moment for Qatar, establishing it as a key player in the global diamond trade. The WFDB's decision was influenced by Qatar's supportive business policies, significant purchasing power, and advantageous geographical location.

Strengthening Global Connections and Trust

Qatar's engagement with the global diamond sector began in 2021, with its full participation in the Kimberley Process Certification Scheme (KP). The WFDB membership now acts as a crucial link, bridging Qatar with major international diamond markets. This affiliation provides QDE with global recognition among member exchanges, access to the federation's arbitration system, and the assurance that all trade operations in Qatar adhere to the WFDB's stringent Code of Conduct. Further demonstrating its confidence in Qatar, the WFDB selected the nation to host its 2027 Annual Presidents' Meeting, an event that will gather leaders from diamond bourses worldwide.

Endorsement by Industry Leaders

Ghanim Nasser Al-Saadi, Director of the Qatar Diamond Exchange, expressed immense pride in this achievement, highlighting that WFDB membership signifies that QDE's trading standards are now on par with the industry's leading centers. He emphasized that this recognition validates QDE's operational excellence and its commitment to upholding global standards. Hosting the 2027 Presidents' Meeting is seen as a significant responsibility and an opportunity to showcase Qatar's advanced exchange facilities to the global diamond industry's leadership.

Adherence to International Standards

This latest development follows QDE's recent acceptance into the World Diamond Council (WDC), which represents the diamond industry within the Kimberley Process. With both memberships secured, QDE is fully aligned with the WDC System of Warranties and the WFDB Code of Conduct, ensuring transparency and integrity across all its activities. This dual membership underscores Qatar's dedication to ethical and responsible diamond trading.

Modern Infrastructure for Diamond Trading

The Qatar Diamond Exchange, which was formally launched earlier this week, is designed to integrate Qatar into the global diamond industry, aligning with the nation's Qatar National Vision 2030. It operates as a regulated platform offering a secure trading floor, private negotiation suites, and an institutional-grade vault with round-the-clock security. Additionally, it provides on-site customs and Kimberley Process certification services. All these facilities are strategically located at Ras Bufontas Free Zone, conveniently close to Hamad International Airport, facilitating seamless international trade.
