Roger Dubuis has launched its latest horological marvel, the Excalibur Kabuto Legacy, a watch that transports its wearer to the tumultuous yet artistically rich 17th-century Japan. This limited-edition timepiece masterfully fuses the brand's renowned watchmaking expertise with profound cultural motifs, paying homage to the era of the samurai.

The centerpiece of the 45mm Excalibur Kabuto Legacy is undoubtedly its dial, which showcases 12 meticulously crafted samurai commanders, or bushō, positioned at each hour marker. These figures are not merely decorative; they symbolize the historical unity of Japan achieved by three leaders who brought peace amidst warring factions. Each samurai is depicted with a unique micro-sculpted 18-karat pink gold kabuto, a ceremonial helmet reflecting their lineage and philosophical stance, a testament to the artistry of métiers d’art where each piece requires several days of dedicated craftsmanship. Notable commanders featured include Tokugawa Ieyasu, whose kabuto bears a fern for longevity, Honda Tadakatsu, known for loyalty with deer antler adorned headgear, and Sakai Tadatsugu, symbolizing wisdom with a sword-laden helmet, reflecting righteousness and martial virtue.
