Smaller Women's Rolex Models See Significant Value Appreciation in Secondary Market

Aug 19, 2026, 5:47 AM

A recent analysis of transaction data from Bob's Watches, spanning from December 2025 to May 2026, indicates a significant upward trend in the secondary market value of more compact and historically feminine Rolex timepieces.

The 31mm Datejust reference 6827 led this appreciation with a remarkable 68.4% increase. Following closely, the Lady-Datejust reference 6917 saw a 38.6% rise, while reference 179174 climbed by 32.2%. Other Lady-Datejust models, references 69173 and 69178, also experienced solid growth of 26.7% and 25.3% respectively. Notably, Lady-Datejust models constituted five of the top ten fastest-appreciating Rolex references within the examined dataset.

Paul Altieri, the founder and CEO of Bob's Watches, highlighted this shift, stating that while collectors have historically prioritized sports models like the Daytona, Submariner, and GMT, the broader Rolex market encompasses a wider range. He noted an increasing appeal for smaller case sizes and models that previously received less attention. This data aligns with a general consumer trend towards smaller watch dimensions, a departure from the long-standing dominance of larger timepieces. This evolving preference could create new avenues for jewelers and pre-owned watch dealers, allowing them to engage a different segment of the market by focusing on these historically undervalued women's models. However, it is crucial to remember that factors such as condition, age, configuration, rarity, and provenance continue to be critical determinants of individual watch values, meaning not all smaller Rolex watches will necessarily see similar appreciation.

The evolving preferences in the luxury watch market demonstrate a dynamic and inclusive future for horology. By recognizing and adapting to these shifts, the industry can better serve a diverse clientele, fostering innovation and appreciation for a wider array of exquisite timepieces. This encourages a more equitable and expansive approach to luxury goods, celebrating craftsmanship and style in all its forms.
