TAG Heuer and Fragment Design Unveil the Glassbox Carrera Chronograph Limited Edition

In their latest collaboration, TAG Heuer and Fragment Design, led by street culture icon Hiroshi Fujiwara, introduce a new limited-edition timepiece that seamlessly blends vintage elegance with modern functionality. This marks their third joint project, following successful reinterpretations of the classic Carrera and Autavia models. This new offering revisits the iconic Carrera Glassbox, pushing the boundaries of minimalist design while honoring the collection's rich heritage.

The 39mm stainless steel case of this watch showcases the refined Glassbox concept, characterized by its fluid, bezel-less construction where a highly domed sapphire crystal rises smoothly from the case, creating an uninterrupted silhouette of steel and glass. The angular lugs, reminiscent of early Carrera designs, provide a sharp and elegant transition from the midcase. Despite its 13.9mm thickness, the watch maintains balanced proportions, and the unique crystal design visually lightens its presence on the wrist, enhancing its three-dimensional appeal. The dial, a matte black opaline, exudes functional minimalism with its recessed black sub-dials and subtle markers, replacing traditional numerals. A distinctive touch is the date window at 12 o'clock, where Fragment's lightning bolt motif replaces numerals on the 1st and 11th days of the month, alongside the brand's text logo at 6 o'clock.

Driving this exquisite watch is the in-house TAG Heuer Calibre TH20-00, an automatic column-wheel chronograph movement boasting an 80-hour power reserve and operating at 28,800 vibrations per hour. The movement, visible through the sapphire caseback, features the Fragment lightning-bolt emblem, and a black-accented, shield-shaped rotor complements the monochrome dial. Completing the design is a seven-row 'beads-of-rice' bracelet, which alternates between brushed and polished steel with black PVD-coated central links, fastened with a double-safety folding clasp. This limited edition of 500 numbered pieces is available at a price of CHF 8,150 or EUR 9,000.

This collaboration exemplifies how innovative design can honor historical roots while embracing contemporary style. It serves as a reminder that enduring beauty and precision can be achieved through thoughtful partnership and a commitment to minimalist principles, offering enthusiasts a timeless piece that bridges past and present with grace and functionality.
