Tudor Unveils Black Bay Chrono 'Carbon 26': A Motorsport-Inspired Timepiece

Apr 30, 2026, 3:02 PM

Tudor has once again fused its horological artistry with the thrilling world of motorsport, presenting the Black Bay Chrono “Carbon 26.” This new limited-edition chronograph draws its inspiration from the 2026 Formula 1 season and the dynamic Visa Cash App Racing Bulls team. As an evolution of the previous year’s “Carbon 25,” the “Carbon 26” refines its predecessor’s concept with subtle aesthetic modifications while retaining its lightweight construction. The timepiece is a clear nod to the VCARB 03 car, showcasing a design language that resonates deeply with contemporary Formula 1 racing.

The brand’s deep-rooted connection to racing is evident in its history, stretching back to the late 1960s and continuing through modern partnerships. The “Carbon 26” is a testament to this enduring legacy, blending a robust, lightweight build with design elements that echo the high-octane environment of Formula 1. Unlike the dive-centric pieces in the Black Bay series, this chronograph carves out its own niche, emphasizing a technical and performance-oriented feel. Produced in a limited run of 2,026 units, each watch is individually numbered, underscoring its exclusivity as a season-specific release.

This striking timepiece boasts a 42mm case meticulously crafted from carbon fiber, including its fixed tachymeter bezel. This material choice not only imparts a distinctive technical appeal but also ensures exceptional lightness. Tudor’s innovative use of carbon fiber extends to components such as the end links and certain dial elements. The watch is further distinguished by a PVD-coated titanium case back, engraved with its unique serial number. Despite its racing pedigree, the “Carbon 26” maintains a water resistance of 200 meters, aligning with the robust standards of the broader Black Bay collection. The dial features a crisp “racing white” base, complemented by contrasting black sub-dials arranged in a bicompax layout. A 45-minute counter is positioned at 3 o'clock, with running seconds at 9 o'clock, and a date window at 6 o'clock. Applied markers and the distinctive snowflake hands are generously coated with luminous material for optimal legibility. Vibrant yellow accents throughout the dial provide a visual link to the 2026 Racing Bulls livery, offering a fresh distinction from the previous “Carbon 25” model. Powering this precision instrument is the Manufacture Chronograph Caliber MT5813, an automatic movement featuring a column wheel, vertical clutch, and silicon balance spring. It offers a substantial 70-hour power reserve and is COSC-certified, ensuring chronometric accuracy. The movement, based on a platform developed in collaboration with Breitling, has been tailored to Tudor’s exacting standards. The watch is paired with a hybrid strap crafted from leather and rubber, showcasing a tire-inspired pattern and carbon fiber end links. This thoughtful detail reinforces the automotive theme while contributing to the watch's overall light weight and comfortable wear.

The Black Bay Chrono “Carbon 26” exemplifies Tudor’s continuous exploration and refinement within its established Black Bay framework. It appeals to enthusiasts of both horology and motorsport, offering a specialized variant that pushes the boundaries of design and material application. This timepiece stands as a testament to Tudor's commitment to innovation, seamlessly integrating high-performance materials and racing aesthetics into a distinctive and highly collectible watch.
