Vacheron Constantin continues its celebrated tradition of honoring the Chinese zodiac with the unveiling of two extraordinary timepieces dedicated to the Year of the Goat for 2027. These new additions to the Métiers d'Art collection exemplify the brand's profound commitment to combining intricate mechanical engineering with unparalleled artistic expression. Each watch is a canvas, brought to life through a sophisticated blend of relief engraving, delicate micro-painting, and the enduring beauty of Grand Feu enamel. The innovative hands-free display, driven by the esteemed in-house calibre 2460 G4, cleverly provides an expansive stage for the detailed representation of the goat, allowing the exquisite artisanal skills to take center stage and captivate observers with their nuanced beauty and symbolic depth.

The enduring connection between Vacheron Constantin and Chinese culture dates back to 1846, establishing a rich heritage of collaboration and admiration. This historical bond, initiated with the dispatch of 33 pairs of timepieces to Canton, has flourished through the centuries, marked by bespoke commissions for esteemed Chinese dignitaries. These unique watches, often presented in pairs, were lavishly adorned with intricate engravings, vibrant enamel work, and precious gemstones, reflecting the artistic sensibilities of both cultures. Today, this profound relationship is maintained through special releases like the Métiers d'Art series, which since 2012 has consistently paid homage to the Chinese zodiac. The goat, a revered symbol in Chinese tradition, embodies a multitude of virtues including strength, quiet resilience, gentleness, unwavering loyalty, and the promise of good fortune, making it a fitting subject for these magnificent horological creations.

Crafted in 40mm cases, each with a slender profile of 12.72mm, these two distinct limited editions are available in either opulent 18k pink gold or refined platinum, with only 25 pieces produced for each metal. The dial of these timepieces presents a captivating, lifelike three-dimensional sculpture of a proud goat, masterfully poised on a rocky outcrop, surveying its ethereal surroundings. Expert engravers meticulously hand-sculpt the goat and its rocky perch from white or pink gold, employing intricate relief engraving techniques to render the finest details, from the texture of the goat's majestic horns to the subtle nuances of its fur. The captivating backdrop of a misty landscape is brought to life through multi-colored Grand Feu enamel, showcasing a delicate gradient that seamlessly transitions into miniature-painted enamel for the lush foliage, creating a scene of profound depth and serenity.

The creation of these dials is a testament to the enduring art of enameling. Enamel is applied in successive, delicate layers using an ultra-fine brush, with each layer requiring precise firing in a kiln. This arduous two-week process is meticulously repeated until the artists achieve the perfect palette and intensity of tone, resulting in a vibrant and lasting work of art. Even the four distinct apertures that display time and date are carefully painted to harmonize with the dial's intricate details, ensuring a cohesive aesthetic. Powering these extraordinary timepieces is the in-house automatic calibre 2460 G4, visible through the sapphire crystal caseback. This movement ingeniously displays trailing hours and minutes in the upper apertures at 11 and 2 o’clock, while jumping days of the week and date are showcased in the two lower apertures. The movement is further adorned with an openworked 22k yellow gold rotor, featuring Vacheron Constantin's iconic polished Maltese Cross. With a reliable 40-hour power reserve and a 4Hz frequency, the calibre ensures precision and performance. The presence of the prestigious Hallmark of Geneva, elegantly engraved on one of the bridges, stands as a testament to the movement's superior technical specifications and the impeccable quality of its finishing, affirming Vacheron Constantin's dedication to horological excellence.

Completing these masterpieces are hand-stitched alligator leather straps, available in sophisticated dark brown or deep blue, complemented by matching pink gold or platinum folding clasps, each bearing the iconic half Maltese cross. As with the case materials, each reference is strictly limited to 25 pieces, ensuring their exclusivity. Pricing for these exceptional works of art is available upon request. These new timepieces stand as a testament to Vacheron Constantin's enduring legacy of artistic innovation and its deep respect for cultural traditions, offering collectors not just a watch, but a wearable piece of art that celebrates heritage and craftsmanship.
