Yema Granvelle Renaissance CMM.29: A Refined Evolution of a Classic Dress Watch
Experience Timeless Elegance: The Yema Granvelle Renaissance CMM.29
A More Proportional and Refined Case Design
Building upon the foundation of the initial Granvelle model, the new Renaissance CMM.29 features a slightly reduced case size, now measuring 37.5mm, which contributes to a more balanced and comfortable fit on the wrist. Despite its smaller dimension, the watch maintains a commanding presence due to its distinctive cushion-shaped silhouette and expansive dial aperture. The case, with a lug-to-lug distance of 46.3mm and a slim profile of just 9mm (including the crystal), achieves harmonious proportions. Its construction combines various finishes, including polished, vertically brushed, and sunray-brushed surfaces, all executed with enhanced precision. Notable upgrades include redesigned lugs and a unique fluted caseband, while the cushion-shaped crown has been specifically reimagined for this collection, featuring alternating finishes and an embossed Yema insignia. The watch offers a water resistance of 50 meters.
An Elaborate and Artistically Inspired Dial
Departing from the earlier Granvelle's stamped texture, the Renaissance CMM.29 boasts a more complex and refined dial construction. The dial is artfully organized into multiple levels, highlighted by a central medallion adorned with an engraved pattern that draws inspiration from the geometric roof motifs of the historic Granvelle Palace. This intricate design is complemented by a recessed hour track, a small seconds display thoughtfully placed at 9 o'clock, and an outer chapter ring. The incorporation of diverse finishes across these layers allows the dial to exhibit a captivating interplay of light and shadow, transforming its appearance with different viewing angles. Faceted applied hour markers and polished hands, all filled with Super-LumiNova BGW9, ensure excellent legibility even in dimly lit conditions.
The Precision of the CMM.29 In-House Micro-Rotor Movement
At the heart of this timepiece is the manufacture calibre CMM.29. Although newly designated, this movement shares a strong lineage with the CMM.20 found in its predecessor, as indicated by the 'Cal. Manufacture Morteau 20' engraving on its bridge. This automatic micro-rotor movement, developed and assembled within Yema's workshops in Morteau, operates at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour and offers a substantial power reserve of 70 hours. It is regulated to an impressive accuracy of -3/+7 seconds per day. The movement's design incorporates a tungsten micro-rotor mounted on ball bearings, a technical feature that remains a significant value proposition at this price point. Through the transparent sapphire caseback, one can admire the rhodium-plated bridges, meticulously decorated with a radiant Côtes de Genève pattern.
Integrated Design and Pricing
The watch is elegantly paired with a custom-designed leather strap for the Renaissance collection, featuring a tapering width from 18mm at the lugs to 14mm at the buckle. The stainless steel pin buckle has also been re-envisioned, echoing the distinctive cushion-inspired geometry found in the case and crown, thus creating a cohesive aesthetic. The Yema Granvelle Renaissance CMM.29 is available for purchase at a price of EUR 2,100, and it comes with a comprehensive five-year international warranty.
