Celebrating the 70th anniversary of its esteemed Ladybird line, Blancpain introduces the Lady B, a sophisticated mechanical watch. This new model draws inspiration from the 1956 Ladybird Bullet, a timepiece renowned for its exceptionally small movement and robust construction, a hallmark of Betty Fiechter's leadership. The Lady B continues this tradition with its Manufacture Caliber 615, encased within a remarkably compact 19mm diameter and 13.2mm height spherical case, available in red gold or stainless steel. This design emphasizes a three-dimensional approach, where the case, movement, and strap are meticulously integrated to form a cohesive, miniature masterpiece, harkening back to an era of groundbreaking mechanical miniaturization.

The legacy of Betty Fiechter, a pioneering figure in Swiss watchmaking, is deeply embedded in the Ladybird collection. Starting as an apprentice in 1912, she rose to co-owner in 1933 and later became the sole leader of Blancpain. Her vision underscored the importance of mechanical watches for women, driving the brand's focus on miniaturization and expanding its product range. Under her guidance, Blancpain launched significant models like the Fifty Fathoms in 1953 and the original Ladybird in 1956. The Lady B embodies this historical commitment, driven by the automatic Manufacture Caliber 615, a 15.7mm diameter, 3.9mm thick movement with 180 components, 29 jewels, a 3 Hz beat rate, and a 38-hour power reserve. Modernized with a silicon balance spring and Côtes de Genève decoration, the 1995-developed caliber maintains a balance between traditional craftsmanship and contemporary advancements.

The Blancpain Lady B distinguishes itself by its volume rather than traditional diameter. Its two-part spherical case required over 30 technical drawings, with hand-finished polished, satin-finished, and micro-blasted surfaces that ingeniously conceal the junction between the upper and lower sections, creating a seamless, polished form. The design eschews conventional lugs, allowing the double-tour calf-leather strap to pass directly through an opening in the case for an integrated, clean silhouette. The beige opaline dial, free of gem settings, features subtle applied gold indexes and polished hour and minute hands, with gray gold for the stainless-steel model and red gold for its counterpart. Available in a variety of colors including white, light beige, dark beige, burgundy, fuchsia purple, and classic blue, the 10mm wide strap, secured with a pin buckle, is easily interchangeable. The Lady B, offered in stainless steel at $12,600 USD and 18K red gold at $19,200 USD, will be available from September 17, 2026, at Blancpain boutiques and authorized retailers.
