His profound dedication to meticulous finishing, elaborate movement decoration, and superior guilloché artistry distinguishes his creations. Torsti's path to watchmaking excellence began with computer science studies, followed by training at the Finnish School of Watchmaking. His talent was recognized early, winning the A. Lange & Söhne Watchmaking Excellence Award in 2014, leading to further specialized training with Kari Voutilainen and at A. Lange & Söhne's decoration department. This rich background underpins the brand's commitment to quality and aesthetic perfection.

Signature Craftsmanship: The Art of Guilloché and Movement Enhancement

Central to the allure of Laine Watches is the intricate guilloché work adorning their dials. The atelier employs traditional patterns such as grain de riz, panier, flamme, clou de Paris, diamond, and twill, all hand-cut with remarkable precision. Beyond the dials, Laine's approach to movements, typically based on foundations like the Unitas, Peseux, or Vaucher micro-rotor calibers, involves comprehensive in-house decoration. This includes intricate engravings, highly polished steel components, bespoke color plating, frosted surfaces, guilloché-decorated bridges, and meticulously hand-polished internal angles, transforming standard movements into works of art.

Introducing the Laine P33: A New Era of Compact Elegance

The highlight of Laine Watches' 10th-anniversary collection is the new P33, a strikingly compact 33mm hand-wound timepiece. This model represents a departure from the brand's earlier, larger designs, echoing the refined proportions of classic dress watches from the 1930s and 40s. With a slim profile of 8mm thickness and a 41mm lug-to-lug measurement, the P33 offers a subtle yet distinctive presence on the wrist, proving that elegance is not solely defined by size but by character.

The P33's Dial and Movement: A Symphony of Traditional Craft

True to Laine's heritage, the P33's dial is a masterclass in traditional decorative techniques. It features two distinct guilloché patterns, meticulously hand-cut on a manually operated engine-turning machine. Presented in a classic silver hue, the dial is complemented by polished, domed, heat-blued hands, drawing inspiration from syringe designs, and minimalist hour and minute indicators. The hour markers boast a unique concave, domed profile, hand-polished to a mirror finish. Powering this exquisite piece is a modified Peseux 7001 hand-wound movement, enhanced with an in-house rose gold-colored, hand-turned guilloché bridge, black-polished steel bridges, and a black-polished crown cap and barrel screw, comprising 17 individually hand-finished steel components. The movement operates at 3Hz and offers a 42-hour power reserve. While the price remains 'upon request,' it is expected to align with the brand's other offerings, in the CHF 10,000 to CHF 12,000 range, excluding taxes.

The P37 Collection: Evolving with Five New Captivating Dials

Alongside the P33, Laine Watches is also enriching its P37 series with five new dial variations. The P37, measuring 37mm in diameter and 8mm thick, shares the same polished steel case and a meticulously decorated Peseux-based movement as the P33, featuring Laine's bespoke bridges, screws, and hand-finished steel components, including hand-finished internal angles, a frosted mainplate, a guilloché bridge, and black-polished steel elements. These new P37 models introduce a small seconds counter and a vibrant palette of dial colors, each paired with a unique guilloché pattern and distinct hour markers. "Taivas" showcases a sky-blue dial with a twill-weave pattern and white gold Breguet-style numerals. "Tulli" features a salmon dial with a Spider pattern, heat-blued steel hands, and straight baton markers. "Meri" captivates with a grey-blue dial, diamond guilloché, and white gold numerals. "Lumi" offers an inverted triple grain de riz guilloché pattern with blued Breguet-style numerals. Finally, "Kaamos" presents a violet-blue background with a modified flame guilloché pattern and white gold numerals.
