The business, which first opened its doors in 1946 as Crescent Jewelers under the proprietorship of Sarah "Sunny" Friedman and Leonard "Lenny" Friedman, remained a family legacy until its recent cessation of operations.

Linda Abell, daughter of the founders, revealed that the store was experiencing its most prosperous period yet, describing the pace as "so so busy for all these years — 80 years." Instead, the closure was prompted by the retirement of David Friedman and his wife, Gail, who represented the second generation running the business. This beloved jeweler had the unique distinction of assisting four generations of customers with their engagement ring selections.
